Finding stylish shoes for travel is always a challenge. We must find the optimal balance of comfort and cuteness. For winter or fall travel a boot provides a dramatic and potentially comfortable option.
On my recent travels to Europe I found many a stylish gal to be sporting boots of all different flavors. My favorite look to emerge from the boots brigade was the brown boot. A viable alternative to black, brown looked casual yet chic and broke up all black ensembles quite confidently.
The boots were quite walkable with either a flat heel or a small stacked heel (an inch or so). The styles of boot that were most prevalent were equestrian style, motorcycle, flat and slouchy, and cowboy boot inspired. The browns were in varying shades from a natural tan to a dark espresso color.
If you choose a boot for travel limit the heel to no more than two inches and make sure that the calf width is comfortable and not completely binding to your leg. A wide opening on the calf also allows you to easily tuck in skinny/straight jeans into your boot which is a popular look in Europe. When worn with a dress, thick tights, and a coat the boots complete a fashionable travel ensemble.
Italian girls opt for a sexier look with the boots. They rock the boots with mini dresses or mini skirts, leggings optional. This look can work if you are on the young side and have got the gams. The trend heavy look can be tempered with a touch of the classics, such as a cardigan, a button down stretch oxford, or a blazer.
